Eat Out Review: The Pizza Factory

Provo can sometimes get really crazy with restaurant wait times.  Before we had kids, we’d sometimes wait long periods of time for a table.  Now we try to avoid the dinner rush by eating early or going to less crowded (but just as good) restaurants.  On a recent night out, we seemed unable to avoid the rush.  We hopped from restaurant to restaurant, unable to find one without a long wait.  We finally settled on The Pizza Factory, where we were quoted a “just a minute while I get your table set up” wait.  I love pizza, but I’m not a huge fan of eating out at a pizza restaurant unless it’s something special.  I guess I’d rather eat it at home.  My family loves it, though, so they were thrilled to eat at The Pizza Factory.

The Pizza Factory

Our short wait then turned to “5 minutes”, then “10 minutes”, and finally we had waited 15 minutes before we were seated.  (Still less than the hour plus waits at other places we had stopped at.)  It was pretty crowded, but our waitress took our orders pretty quickly.

The Pizza Factory Strawberry Italian Soda

Strawberry Italian Soda ($3.50) – We love Italian Sodas!  These include free refills & you can choose different flavors if you’d like.

The Pizza Factory Strawberry Smoothie

Strawberry Smoothie ($4.50) – Pretty standard smoothie, but good.

The Pizza Factory Bread Twists

Bread Twists ($1.25 each, but are included with some entrees) – The best thing about this place, hands down!  Love these buttery, garlicky soft breadsticks baked right on the stick.  I do think they should include a free dipping sauce for each table, though instead of charging $1 each.

The Pizza Factory Salad Bar

Salad Bar ($4.95 small/$5.95 large/$6.95 endless/$7.95 endless soup, salad, & bread twists) – The salad bar has a decent number of green salad toppings, but whenever I’ve been there, they haven’t kept it very well stocked.

The Pizza Factory Chicken Noodle Soup

Chicken Noodle Soup – The soup was pretty good with thick, soft noodles, nice chunks of tender chicken, and a good home-style flavor.  Sweet Diner, especially, loved it!

The Pizza Factory Pepperoni Pizza

Mini Pepperoni Pizza ($5.50) – Average pepperoni pizza, but Amazing diner was satisfied.

The Pizza Factory Custom Pizza

Mini Pizza with Sausage, Green Peppers & Ham ($7.50) They gave us this pizza by mistake & it was pretty good.  The correct pizza came in a box to go.

The food was pretty average, but the bread twists were yummy!  Even though the prices don’t seem outrageous on paper (or screen, in this case), I always walk out feeling like everything was overpriced for what it was.  We’ve been there a few times in the past and I have always felt that way.  On this visit, we were also frustrated with the long wait for our food.  Sweet Diner and I had finished with eating our salad, soup, & bread twists before we ever saw a pizza arrive.  Then to have one of the pizzas be incorrect was an additional frustration.  The server was good, though, apologizing for the wait and providing a free dessert for our inconvenience.

  1. I have never been to the Pizza Factory – we will have to check it out. The Garlic Breadsticks look so yummy!

  2. When I lived in Utah County, I’d eat at the Pizza Factory OFTEN. We’d order it for carry out and eat in. 2 weeks ago, we happened to be in town for something (we’re about 30 min away), so we decided to stop. We got into a table, really fast. Waited forever for someone to wait on us though. Service was not very friendly. Food was about the same price, but the portions had been cut in like thirds. I was soooo disappointed! The food tasted about the same. I was so bummed, my old favorite wasn’t very good!

Those breadsticks were sooooooo good though!!!

  3. LOVE Pizza Factory. You nailed it: Those breadtwists take the cake – you can also get them in cinnamon. Just sayin.

I don’t love their pizza – I’m more enamored by their pastas (Primavera Pie YUM!) and sandwiches.

  4. I love the pizza factory. We used to eat at the St. George one when we’d be down there. I’m so happy there’s one in Syracuse now. They have a gluten-free pizza crust (perfect for me) and of course my family loves the bread twists. Their salad bar is good too.

  5. I love the pizza factory — we went there a lot when I was pregnant. The bread twists are definitely my favorite!
