Eat Out New Mexico Review: Los Hermanitos

Los Hermanitos Burrito Rolled Enchiladas

According to my husband, there is no Mexican food quite like the Mexican food they serve in New Mexico.  He absolutely loves it and it is a “must eat” when we’re in “The Land of Enchantment”.  One of his favorite restaurants is Los Hermanitos in Farmington, New Mexico, which is where we ate on our latest trip.

Los Hermanitos is a family-run restaurant with two locations in Farmington, although we’ve only been to the East Main location.  We always have a large group and call ahead to let them know we’re coming.  They have a main dining area and a back dining room that can easily accommodate large groups, which is where we always dine.  The place is not at all fancy, with run-of-the-mill tables and chairs and random Mexican decorations.  But they always have plenty of room for us and seat us quickly.

They served up plenty of salsa and chips for our table and took our orders.  The salsa had an excellent flavor, but could have been a bit chunkier for my taste.  We ordered guacamole for the whole table…one of my favorites, and they make it just right.  I ordered the rolled beef enchiladas with green chile ($10).  Mr. Diner ordered his traditional ground beef burrito smothered with red chile ($7.75).  Amazing Diner & Sweet Diner both ordered the chicken strips from the non-Mexican choices on the kids menu, and Little Diner ordered the cheese quesadilla.

It took our server several trips and a couple changes to get all sixteen of us served what we had ordered, but she did a fairly good job.  The enchiladas were average, but had a really good green chile sauce.  They were served with refried beans and spanish rice, which were both average.  Mr. Diner loved his burrito with its spicy red chile.

I love the chips with the salsa and guacamole.  Those and the sopapillas at Los Hermanitos are definitely my favorite parts of the meal.  Many of their meals are served with a sopapilla at the end of the meal.  They are soft, airy puffs of dough that are perfect with a drizzle of honey.  Though I feel like I’m about to pop at the end of the meal, I can’t bear to leave without at least a few bites of the sopapillas.

  4. We have some pretty good places too in Tucson. The one’s that are still family run, and little holes in the wall are the best. Rosas is my favorite here in town:)
