Eat Out Review: Firehouse Pizzeria

Firehouse Pizzeria

How do you choose a restaurant when you’re in an unfamiliar area?  Usually I ask the hotel staff or look up reviews online…or sometimes just choose a place as we drive by  This time, we chose to eat at Firehouse Pizzeria in Logan because of their ad in the hotel binder.

There were quite a few people headed in when we arrived, which is usually a good sign.  When we walked in, I noticed the big chalkboard promoting their 36” pizza – that’s not a typo – 36” pizza.  If two people can finish it, they get free pizza for a year.  WOW.  Thirty-six inch pizza.  Can’t get over that.  If two of you can finish it, I guess you deserve free pizza for a year.  But after eating that much pizza in one sitting, I don’t think I would want any more pizza for at least a year!

The place has an urban feel to it with the dining room open to the large pizza ovens.  I watched the guys taking food in and out of that oven…they’ve got skills.  Our server was friendly and very casual, but adequate.

Their menu has pizzas of all kinds and sizes (8”-36”), salads, sandwiches, pastas, chicken wings, desserts, and a kids menu.  The kids menu has the interesting-sounding peanut butter and honey pizza, but none of our little diners wanted to order it.  They ordered the traditional pepperoni pizza.  Mr. Diner tried the 8” Firehouse Combo (pepperoni, ham, green peppers, onions, mushrooms).  I ordered the 8” Artichoke Chicken pizza (an artichoke sauce with chicken, green onions, bacon, tomatoes).  The crusts were wonderful…not too thick or thin and baked just the right amount to be chewy, yet soft.  The toppings were very flavorful.  Both pizzas were excellent.  I really enjoyed the small diced ingredients on the Artichoke Chicken…it made it easy to get all the flavors in every bite.  The 8” pizzas were about $9 each, a bit pricey for an 8” pizza.  Unfortunately, for those of you going for the free pizza for a year, I didn’t note the price of the 36” pizza.

They have a Centerville location in addition to this Logan one.

  1. Really? I thought their pizza was mediocre at best. The famous foccacia bread was horrible! The alfredo sauce was runny and tasted funny! I went there about a week ago and their service has gone down, tremendously! I have been there a few times and received pretty decent service, but the food was always just okay! The service is why I have always been back, but, as a college student, I just don’t think their prices stand up to the quality, especially recently! And from what I have heard, the other two locations are closed!
